So far, the Book of Judges has shown us the lives of Israel's judges, but in chapters 17 & 18 we find 3 simple stories—the story of a mother, son, and a silver idol. The story of a man who had a house of idols, and the Tribe of Dan, which kidnapped a Levite, stole some idols, and set up a whole new religion.

All 3 of these stories have something in common that explains the confusion and lack of understanding.
